If you’re reading this message, you might remember the ending scene of the 1st Matrix movie. My take on it is that it shows a form of enlightenment, soon to be followed by a box-office sequel or two. In the sequel, however, the cyber-Muad’Dib “Neo (conservative)” – coldly portrayed by Keanu Reeves (3-Edznab) – gets to work in order to save humanity from the much colder Machines.
So it follows that enlightenment is, in fact, just like graduation. You have a great party, but after that it’s job-hunting time. It is the point in Time when you tell yourself “I got it now. Time to pat myself on the back somehow.” Then you end up rioting in the streets because you found out your Business MA is worth nothing no matter where you are; even if you were an Egyptian or a Lybian before 2011.
Now back to the Matrix. The song which plays in the background, as Neo has his moment of realization (followed closely by his “Superman” thing) is called “Wake Up”. It was featured in the debut album of one of my favorite bands ever: Rage Against the Machine.
Many words still ring true for me today, and are even amplified by the recent waves of the Universal Underground:
“Standin’ with the fury that they had in ’66, and like E-Double I’m mad, still knee-deep in the system’s shit”
“Networks at work, keepin’ people calm. You know they went after King when he spoke out on Vietnam/You know they murdered (Malcolm) X and tried to blame it on Islam”
“Through counter-intelligence it should be possible to pinpoint potential trouble-makers and neutralize them.”
“How long? Not long. ‘Cause what you reap is what you sow.”
Zack de la Rocha wrote all the lyrics for this politically-serious band from the 90’s, and his lyrics were peotic as much as they were rageful. His Tzolkin birthday is 11-Cib.
11-Cib is already far behind us. Before the last time (12 Jan 12) it took Place in Time on April 27 2011. If you look up that date in Wikipedia, you’ll find:
Sounds like the beginning of a tough Winter. 11-Cib takes place on 1-Cimi, which is the first trecena in the Tzolkin winter (the last one is 1-Edznab, which ended recetly.)
The Mayan sun-sign Ahau (Sun) is closely followed by Imix – the Universal Womb of the Great Mother. So right after you’ve mastered something you go back to square one on the next level.
This is the true meaning of waking up or experiencing enlightenment.
It means Day is upon us and it’s time to stop talking/dreaming about what you want to see happen on NBC. It’s time to start making it happen.
It’s our turn now.
