Born 5-Eb: Ron Paul, Dwight D. Eisenhower (34th US President), Fred Alan Wolf, Mike Myers, Claus von Stauffenberg, Rev. Jim Jones
On November 18th, 1978 (6-Lamat) Rev. Jim Jones (5-Eb) led his sheepfold to mass suicide, emulating the desperate story of Massada from the 1st century CE. He was the kind of leader that could actually pull that kind of sacrifice off on a grand scale. He shares his Tzolkin birthday with two other common-people leaders: Ron Paul and Ike.
Another 5-Eb heroic failure would be Claus von Stauffenberg, a young officer who grew in an aristocratic German family in the early 20th century. One day in 1944 he went to a meeting with Hitler in his bunker carrying a bomb in his suitcase. He had a firm conviction that the charismatic leader of his fatherland was in a rapid and out-of-control process of burning Germany to the ground. He was sure he can do something about it, even if he had just one arm and one eye left from the early war. So shortly after entering the bunker conference room, he squeezed the time-delayed detonator, waltzed out of the room to answer a timely phone call from a co-conspirator, got on a jeep and sped out of there.
You know, just like Tom Cruise (4-Cimi) did in Operation Valkyrie.
Not many days later, poor Claus was hung by his neck for high treason, his family line killed off, along with all his coup conspirators. It’s important to point out that there’s little doubt about the relevance and importance of that specific conspiracy and military coup attempt. How much light and bravery did von Stauffenbern bring into those dark times with his subversive diligence? How much of today’s activism involve a level of sacrifice resembling 5-Eb’s?
Capital E Empathy
5-Eb means knowing how to find and follow your one true path of integrity and purpose, which must always lead upwards and onwards, like a staircase. Having established Chuen in the previous stage, I now return to the theme cardinal direction for the first time (south) and incorporate the essence of Eb in order to walk the path of the Stars.
5-Eb also means knowing what moves you forward and what keeps you back, as the Buddha once said (Buddha being the Hindu name for Mercury, among other meanings). Since Eb is a sensitive and communal sun-sign, those boosters and obstacles can be the subtlest things – an orchard in bloom, a far-away snow-capped peak, an off remark.
Rather than keeping things hidden inside, today I share my thoughts about where I am and where I’m heading. I pin-point the landmarks that offer promise, and those that present challenge. I rally my tribe to follow me down the star-spangled path of the universe.
You know, like Ike.
